Two teams ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Division III Top-25 squared off this afternoon in Decorah. Luther, ranked No. 5 entered the match undefeated with a mark of 4-0. Gustavus, ranked No. 25 had tallied a record of 1-2. The Gusties outshot the Norse 11-5 and placed seven shots on goal en route to a 3-1 victory.
Gian Leite gave Luther a 1-0 lead at 31:05, his first goal of the season, assisted by
Hernan Manzanet (1). Leite's goal found the lower left corner of the Gusties goal.Â
Eight minutes later, Gustavus score the first of its three goals at 39:29. Raphael Cattelin knocked a header over
Carson Davenport to tie the match. Otis Anderson scored what proved to be the game winner on a header at 69:54, and Cattelin capped off the afternoon's scoring at 73:22.
Luther returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 15 when it will host UW-Whitewater at 7:30 p.m.
