UW-Whitewater, host of the NCAA III Whitewater Regional, defeated Luther 20-1 in the opening round of regional play. This game was halted after 5 1/2 innings on Thursday afternoon due to heavy rain in the area. It was resumed on Friday morning.
The Warhawks, ranked No. 5 by D3baseball.com, had 15 hits and did all of the damage in the first six frames. Luther scored in the top of the first and had three hits that included a lead-off single by
Cullen Stamp who finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Stamp scored on a throwing error following a sacrifice bunt by
Luke Plunkett.
The Norse will now play on Friday, May 28 at 3:30 p.m. in an elimination game against Salem State University (Mass). Salem State was defeated by the No. 1 seed of the regional Adrian College 2-0.
