Luther was defeated by Nebraska Wesleyan University 80-62 this afternoon in the Regents Center Gymnasium. The Norse held a 27-22 lead with a little over five minutes remaining in the first half. NWU went on a 15-5 run and led 37-32 at halftime and never trailed the remainder of the afternoon.
Ben Gill and
Daniel Webster led the Norse offensive attack. Gill tallied 13 points thanks to 6-of-8 shooting and adding a free throw. Webster had 10 points and finished tied for the team lead with
Mitchell Schmieder for rebounds with six.
Eros Carpio and
Mat Rohden came off the bench and chipped in eight and seven points respectively.
The Prairie Wolves were led by Landon Torneten and Carter Glenn who both tallied a game high 21 points. Peter Lash also reached double digits with 13.
The loss gives Luther and American Rivers Conference mark of 0-3, 1-7 overall. NWU improved to 2-0 in league play, 5-2 overall.
Luther returns to action one week from today when it will host Buena Vista University at 4:00 p.m.
