Wartburg College blistered the nets tonight and defeated Luther 73-57 in Waverly. The Knights finished the evening shooting 52.8% and never trailed. Wartburg led 40-25 at halftime, but the Norse battled back and pulled to withing seven (57-50) with seven minutes left in the game. It was as close as the Norse would get the rest of the way.
Eleven different players scored for the Norse led by
Eros Carpio and
Jordan Pennix who both tallied eight points.
Ben Gill was next with seven while both
Matthew Franzen and
Arsen Erdem were credited with six.
The Knights Jack Molstead, who was 5-of-6 from behind the three-point line, led all scorers with 27 points. Drew Olson and Codey Hicks also reached double digits with 16 and 12 respectively.
The loss gives Luther an American Rivers Conference record of 0-2, 1-6 overall. Wartburg improved to 2-0 in the A-R-C, 6-1 overall.
Luther will host Nebraska Wesleyan University this Saturday, Dec. 4 at 4:00 p.m.
