Luther hosted non-conference opponent Crown College this afternoon and was defeated by a final of 75-70. The biggest lead in the game by either team was five points and there were 13 lead changes and eight ties. The Storm made seven of eight free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. Crown also did the majority of its damage from behind the three-point line connecting on 11 of 31 attempts.
Ben Gill had his bests offensive effort in a Norse uniform. Gill tallied 17 points thanks to an 8-of-10 performance from the field. Gill also led the team with eight rebounds.
Evan Turner also reached double digits with 11 points off the bench.
Seth Royston and Micah Ladd led the Storm with 17 points each. Royston was 5-of-11 from behind the arch, while Ladd was 6-of-10. Cade Neubert was the third player to post double figures with 14.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 1-5. Crown leveled it record to 4-4.
Luther returns to American Rivers Conference play this coming Wednesday, Dec. 1 when it will travel to Wartburg College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
