Luther improved to 5-0 in the American Rivers Conference thanks to a 8-1 home victory over Coe College this afternoon. The Norse swept doubles and won five of six singles matches en route to the victory. With today's victory, Luther has now won 27 consecutive matches against A-R-C opponents dating back to Oct. 7, 2018 when the Norse defeated Coe 6-3.

In doubles, Shelby Cook and Natalie Smith defeated Emma Lassen and Claudie Bilkey at No. 1 (8-3). Ana Olimpio and Sofia Sackett posted an (8-2) win over Madison Schultz and Eliza Sundermann. At No. 3, Lexi Hastings and Emily Rubbelke posted an (8-4) win over Janie Lapray and Jania Carter-Johnson.

The five singles victories were all in straight sets. Smith posted a (6-3, 6-0) win at No. 2; Sackett won (6-1, 6-2) at No. 3; Olimpio won (7-5, 6-4) at No. 4; Renata Martinez won at No. 5 (6-1, 6-3); and Montserrat Ramirez-Mainou won at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1).

The win gives Luther an overall record of 6-2. Coe fell to 6-2 in the A-R-C, 7-2 overall.

Luther will travel to Central College this Friday, Oct. 8 and Simpson College on Saturday, Oct. 9.
