No. 4 seed Luther College rolled to a 4-0 victory over No. 5 seed Wartburg College tonight in the first round of the American Rivers Conference Tournament. The Norse tallied 13 shots placing five on goal and scored twice in each half.

Luther's first goal, and what proved to be the game winner was a Wartburg own goal. Ricardo Crisanto sent a ball into the box that was deflected by a Wartburg defender into the back of the net at 15:36. Gian Leite gave the Norse a 2-0 lead with his second goal of the season at 28:44.

In the second half, Marcos Vila drove in his 13th goal of the year at 48:30 and Javier Pastor Valls scored his second goal of the year at 54:43.

Will Overberg added to his team leading 36 points, assisting on the final three goals of the night.

The win gives Luther an overall record of 10-6-3. Wartburg ends its season with a mark of 7-7-3.

Luther will now travel to regular season champions and the No. 1 seed of the tournament the University of Dubuque for a semifinal match on Wednesday, Nov. 3 . This match is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. The winner of this match will advance to the championship match that will take place on Saturday, Nov. 6. The winner of the tournament earns the league's automatic berth to the NCAA III National Tournament.

Luther will be making its 20th appearance in the semifinals of the conference tournament that began in 1996. This year is the 25th year of the tournament after last year's tournament was canceled due to COVID-19.
