The Luther College men's soccer team completed its non-conference schedule tonight at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The two teams entered the match ranked No. 4 (Luther) and No. 5 (UWP) in the recent United Soccer Coaches Division III rankings released Oct. 19.
The Pioneers Lucas Godon scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of the match that secured the 2-0 victory. Godon scored at 4:59 and 14:50.
Luther had 12 shots and placed three inside the frame, while the Pioneers were credited with nine shots and five on-goal.
With the loss, Luther finishes its non-conference record with a mark of 5-5. They struggled on the road posting a 1-3 record. The Norse are now 9-6-2 overall. UW-Platteville improved to 12-2-2.
Luther has one match remaining on the regular season schedule. That will be on Tuesday, Oct. 26 when it host Wartburg College at 7:30 p.m.
The American Rivers Conference six-team tournament will begin with first round matches on Saturday, Oct. 30. The top-two seeds for the tournament will receive a first-round bye. Seeds No. 3 and No. 4 will host first round matches on the 30th. The semifinals will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 3, with the championship match slated for Saturday, Nov. 6. The winner of the tournament will earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA III National Tournament.
