A 2004 graduate of Luther College, the 2025-26 campaign will be Adam's 15th as head coach of the men's and women's tennis programs.
During his career he has led the men to a dual meet record of 252-105. The Norse have won five consecutive American Rivers Conference titles, six consecutive A-R-C Tournament titles and made six consecutive trips to the NCAA III National Tournament (2019-25). Adam and his coaching staff have been named conference coaching staff of the year six times.
Collectively his players have earned 49 all-conference honors in singles and 41Â all-conference honors in doubles. He has also coached two conference MVP's (Scott Sundstrom - 2012, Luke Westholder - 2023, 2024, 2025). Westholder was named an ITA All-American in singles in 2023.
He has led the women to a dual meet record of 211-122 including a 100-7 record in the IIAC/A-R-C. The Norse have won six straight A-R-C titles.Â
In 2021, Strand's No. 1 doubles team of Cole Schneider '21 and Nyathi Motlojoa '22 qualified for the NCAA III National Tournament.
In 2022, Motlojoa also qualified for the NCAA National Tournament in singles. Motlojoa and Schneider qualified for the ITA Cup in Fall 2019, Motlojoa and Max Loen qualified in Fall 2021, Westholder qualified in singles in Fall 2022.
Strand returned to Luther after serving as the head coach for both the men's and women's programs at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois for six years.
