A 2024 graduate of Luther, Heryla begins his second season as the assistant coach for both the men's and women's tennis programs. During his senior year he was a volunteer assistant for the Norse women's team that captured the regular season conference title, the conference tournament championship and their fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA III National Tournament.
During his Luther career he was a four-time ITA Scholar Athlete, was recognized three times on the American Rivers Conference Spring Sports All-Academic team, and has also inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society.
A 2020 graduate of Columbia Heights High School (MN), Heryla was a five-time letter winner in tennis and also participated in soccer, swimming and diving and basketball. He helped lead the Hylanders to a Tri-Metro Conference title in tennis is 2016 and section titles in 2017 and 2018. The 2016 team also qualified the Minnesota Class A State Tournament, the first appearance in the tournament in school history. Individually he earned multiple all-conference honors and qualified in singles for the state tournament. He was named team MVP.
