DECORAH, Iowa – The Luther women's soccer team tied the University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic 1-1 on Wednesday night. Both goals of the game came in the second half with the Blue Devils striking first in the 79
th minute followed by the equalizer from
Samantha McCorkle in the 85
th minute.
In the first half, the Blue Devils generated the early pressure out shooting the Norse 8-1. In the 20
th minute
Suzett Hinds Cruz got out in front of the defender challenging the UW-Stout Polytechnic goalie one-on-one. However, the Blue Devil goalie was able to make the save. Just five minutes later,
Rylie Bucklin was busy on the other end. She was forced to make back-to-back saves in the 25
th and 26
th minute. It was scoreless going into halftime.
Late in the second half, the Blue Devils were able to get on the board first with a goal from Kayla White in the 79
th minute. The Norse responded on a set piece from the corner flag.
Kate Van Deventer crossed the ball in towards. The ball bounced around until McCorkle was able to knock it in for her first career goal. Luther had flipped the script in the second half out shooting the Blue Devils 10-5.
Bucklin made six saves in the contest for a season high. She faced 13 shots during the night. Sofia Biederman led the team with five shots.
