CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Four Luther College student athletes were recognized by the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) for their weekly performances including
CJ Boudreaux (baseball),
Zach Gwost (baseball),
Raven Allen (softball) and
Lena Lichau (women's tennis).
Boudreaux and the baseball team won the first conference title since 2009 and first outright title since 1985 in the sweep of Simpson over the weekend. During the week he had two saves and one win on the mound. He only gave up three walks, one hit and struck out six batters in his appearances. He also set the single season school record for saves and set a new school record for career saves with 11 in the first game of the series against the Storm.
Gwost was 11-for-19 at the plate in five games played last week. He recorded 15 rbi, 7 runs, four homeruns, one triple and one double. In the Simpson series he hit five homeruns. Gwost's best game of the week was game three against the Storm where he went 3-for-4 with two runs, six rbi and two homeruns.
Allen and the softball team went 2-2 on the week earning splits against Loras (0-1, 9-3) and Cornell (5-6, 12-4 (6). She was 8-for-12 at the plate with nine rib, five runs, five doubles and one homerun.
Lichau and the women's tennis defeated Central (4-0) and Coe (4-3) in the A-R-C tournament. It was the 12
th tournament title in program history. Against the Dutch, Lichau defeated Lauren Gano (6-3, 6-1) at no. 2 singles and at no. 2 doubles with partner
Abby Struble they defeated J. Mitsuko Mahoney and Claire Smock (6-4). In the grueling win over the Kohawks she won again at no. 2 singles beating Addison Leasure (7-6, (7-4), 6-4). And at no. 2 doubles they defeated Sophia Fain and Maria Belloo (7-5). The Norse will be in the 2026 national tournament where they will find out where they play in the selection show on May 4 at 11 a.m.
