CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Gavin Scurr of the Luther baseball team and
Rhys Biro-Moore of the men's tennis team earned American Rivers Conference Performer of the Week honors announced on Monday.
Scurr and the baseball team swept the three-game series versus Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Neb. March 20-21 (13-0 (7), 5-2, 14-3). At the plate he went 9-12 with eight rbi, three runs along with three home runs and one double. Defensively he had 32 putouts. In the first game of the series, he hit two solo home runs.
Biro-Moore and the men's tennis team went 1-1 to start their spring break trip in Orlando, Fla. The Norse lost to Hamilton College 5-2 on Saturday but rebounded the next day with a win over Union College 7-0. Biro-Moore was 3-1 in those two matches winning at no. 5 singles vs Akshat Dhull of Hamilton 5-7, 6-3, 1-0. Against Union he won at no. 2 doubles with partner
Jake Nelson defeating Vivaan Gupta/Daniel Saxe 6-2. And at no. 5 singles he beat Simon Philip 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
