In an early season match between the top two teams in the American Rivers Conference, Luther posted a 4-3 victory over Coe this afternoon in Decorah.
The Norse held a 1-0 advantage following doubles play.
Lena Lichau and
Abby Struble at No. 3 defeated Maria Belloo Escobar and Alice Tysoe (6-3).
Allie Christensen and
Julia Moreno secured the doubles point thanks to a (7-6(7-4)) win at No. 1 over Aisha Gurung and Addison Leasure.
In singles, the Kohawks won three matches and the Norse won two leveling the match score to 3-3, with the No. 3 singles match between Lichau and Gurung in progress. After splitting the first two sets, Lichau trailed Gurung in the tie-breaker 2-1 and then proceeded to win four straight to take a 5-2 lead. Gurung responded with two wins to pull to within 5-4. Lichau won the next game to secure the 6-4 come-from-behind win that secured the 4-3 team victory.

The win gives Luther an A-R-C record of 2-0, 3-0 overall. Today was Coe's first dual match of the season.
Up next, the Norse will host the Alumni Meet on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Norse next official dual meet will be at Loras College on Sept. 16 at 4 p.m.
