CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Three Luther athletes earned American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Player of the Week honors including
Elliot Lindberg of men's soccer,
Lauren Linkletter of women's soccer and
Abby Ostermann of women's tennis.
The men's soccer team began their season with a 1-0 victory of the no. 12 nationally ranked University of Wisconsin-Superior and a 6-0 win over St. Scholastica. Lindberg was the critical center back helping the Norse to two clean sheets and was named the defensive player of the week. He also blocked a shot against the Saints to keep them off the score sheet.
The women's soccer team also had a strong start winning their home opener 5-1 over Bethany Lutheran and a 1-0 win on the road at St. Scholastica. Linkletter scored two goals and tallied two assists versus the Vikings earning offensive player of the week honors. This was her first multi-goal game since 2023. She also set a career high for points in a game with six.
Ostermann was named the women's tennis player of the week. The women's tennis team finished fourth at the Warhawk Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Aug. 30. Then on Monday, the Norse also defeated Wartburg and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls 7-0. Ostermann finished the first week of competition 3-2 overall in singles and 1-0 in doubles.
