NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Luther men's cross country season began at the Ole Opener hosted by St. Olaf College. The Norse finished fourth overall with
Christian Montover as the top finisher who was 32nd with a time of 16:56.5 in the 5k race.
The meet also featured Macalester, host St. Olaf, Bethel, St. Scholastica and Bethany Lutheran College.
Top-five finishers Montover (32nd - 18 pts - 16:56.5),
Michel Heinrich (33rd - 19 pts - 16:56.8),
Jack Bode (34th - 20 pts - 16:56.9),
Kurt Lebakken (35th - 21 pts - 16:56.9), and
Jacob Bruns (36th - 22 pts - 16:57.5).
Jalen Taha (61st - 17:44.5) and
Philip Dahlen (62nd - 17:44.7) completed the top-seven.
Up next the Norse will have a week off before hosting the 52nd annual All-American Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13. The 4-mile race will be at 12:15 p.m. on the cross country course at Luther College.
