Luther College Athletic Director
Megan Wilson is pleased to announce the appointment of Haakon Rustad as the Interim Women's Golf Coach, effective Monday, Aug. 18. He is a 2025 graduate of Luther and an accomplished former Norse golfer, who steps into his first coaching position.
"I'm very honored and excited to be returning to Luther College as the Interim Women's Golf Coach," Rustad said. "Being a student-athlete at Luther was a pivotal part of my education, and I am eager to continue to contribute to the success of Luther College Athletics and the Women's Golf program."
Rustad's connection to Luther College runs deep, both as a student and an athlete. As a four-year letterwinner for the Norse, he completed 87 career rounds with a career average of 75.5. His skills and dedication on the course earned him four-time all-conference honors from 2022 to 2025. In 2023, he was named conference MVP, highlighting his standout performance that season. He was also recognized as an NCAA Division III PING First-Team All-Region golfer and achieved the distinction of being a three-time Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA) All-America Scholar.
"Haakon brings a deep connection to Luther and a vision for helping our student-athletes grow as competitors and as people," said
Megan Wilson, Director of Athletics at Luther College. "His storied career as a Norse golfer gives him a unique perspective and credibility that will inspire our team. We look forward to the positive impact he will have on our women's golf program and the Luther community."
The women's golf team begins the 2025-26 season at the Kohawk Classic hosted by Coe College on Aug. 30-31 at Pheasants Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
