PELLA, Iowa - The Luther softball team split the doubleheader with no. 19 Central taking game one 12-5 but fell in second game 11-2 in five innings. The Norse hit .451 (14-31) as a team in the opening game of the series. Luther is 20-14 overall and 5-5 in the American Rivers Conference.
Game 1: Luther 12, Central 5
Luther rallied on two outs in the first inning by scoring seven runs for a strong start. An inning later with a 7-1 advantage the Norse went back to work scoring three runs on four hits. Central added a lone run in the bottom half for the frame.
In the fourth both teams added two runs as Luther was still out in front 12-4. The Dutch also added a lone run in the fifth.
Raven Allen was 3-4 with two runs and three rbi.
Jayla Harter also had three rbi going 2-4 at the plate.
Jordan Torrez and
Chloe Wagner were also credited with rbi.
Alexa Stevermer picked up her first career win against a ranked opponent. She allowed 10 hits, five runs, one walk and two strikeouts for her seventh complete game this season.
Game 2: Central 11, Luther 2 (5 innings)
The Dutch scored 11 runs on five hits. The only runs for Luther came in the top of the second off of
Mya Larsen's two rbi double into center field.
Central moves to 20-6 overall and 5-3 in the A-R-C.
