Softball Starts Florida Spring Break With Two Wins

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Luther softball team defeated The College of Wooster (5-1) and Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) (6-1) to kick off spring break with two wins. This is the fifth straight win for the Norse as they improve to 9-5 overall.

Game 1: Luther 5, Wooster 1
The Scots led 1-0 heading into the bottom half of the first but three rbi singles from Riley Sauser, Jaydan Clayton and Mya Larsen gave the Norse a 3-1 advantage at the end of inning. Later in the fourth Luther added another pair of runs. Avery Nehring and Larsen were both 2-3 at the plate. Alexa Stevermer pitched her second complete game of her career and is now 4-0 in the circle. She had 15 of the 29 batters faced hit into ground outs. 

Game 2: Luther 6, MSOE 1
Playing as the visiting team in the second game of the afternoon Luther tacked on four runs in the top of the first. Madi Elwood, Delaney Martinez-Wilson and Madi Urfer had back-to-back-to-back rbi hits. The Raiders responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning but that would be all they would get. The Norse added one run in the sixth thanks to a double from Avery Nehring and another run in the seventh with a double from Urfer. Olivia Engler went the distance with five strikeouts.

The Norse will face the no. 6 nationally ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 10 a.m. ET followed by Lewis & Clark College at 12:15 p.m. ET in Clermont, Fla.
