Luther Announces Structural Changes in Men’s and Women’s Track and Field

DECORAH, Iowa – Luther College Athletic Director Renae Hartl has announced that Bruce Clark, associate head coach for both the men's and women's track and field programs, has been named the interim head coach for both programs effective Feb. 1. Clark, a 2012 graduate of Luther, is in the midst of his third year.

Clark returned to Luther after serving as the head boys and girls track and field coach at Lewiston-Altura High School for eight years. During his tenure, Clark was responsible for major growth and development within the programs. His boys team rose from ninth in the conference to section champions in 2019 and placed second at the Minnesota Class A State Championships that same season.

While at Luther he has been directly involved with all aspects of the track and field programs.

The change in the structuring of the track programs was made following a career move by Yarrow Pasche, Director of Women's Cross Country and Track Field, who has accepted the position of Mental Health Therapist in Counseling Services at Luther and will begin her duties Feb. 1. She will continue as Head Coach of women's cross country and Director of Operations for both track programs.

Steve Pasche, has also resigned as Director of Men's Cross Country and Track and Field, and will continue as Head Coach of men's cross country, and distance coach for both the men's and women's track programs, and teach in the Health and Exercise Science Department.

"I would like to thank Renae, Steve and Yarrow for this opportunity to be the head coach of the men's and women's track and field programs," stated Clark. "I am extremely excited that both Steve and Yarrow will continue to work with our distance runners, a role that they have served in for the past 19 years and have had outstanding success. They have been great mentors the past three years. They have worked hard to create a great experience for our athletes and have contributed to their overall experience as a student and as a whole person at Luther College. I look forward to having them alongside me as we continue to grow and strengthen our track and field programs."

"As Steve and Yarrow transition from being the lead in four programs and return to putting all of their efforts into our cross country and distance runners at Luther, I want to thank them for their willingness to serve our track and field teams as program directors for the past five years," stated Hartl. "Our distance runners are very fortunate to have such outstanding people to continue to recruit, coach, and lead us into the future."
