It was senior day this afternoon and the Norse never trailed in the final game of the this three-game series. The Norse defeated the Kohawks 10-4 ,after scoring three runs in the second, sixth and seventh innings and scoring once in the third. With today's victory, Luther won the final series of the regular season 2-1.
Joshua Matanich led the Norse with four rbi.
Cullen Stamp was credited with two, while
Peyton Lindmark,
Garren Heinert and
Noah Pinette all drove in one run. Matanich, who was 2-for-5 drove in his first run with a bases loaded fielders choice in the second. He capped of the afternoon with a three-run home run over the right field fence in the seventh. Stamp hit a two-run single in the sixth.
Charles Running (3-3) was credited with the victory after taking over for starter
Kaleb Thiesse who had to leave the game unexpectantly with two outs in the second inning. Running went 4 1/3 innings, allowed four earned runs on eight hits, walked one and struck out one.
Blake Jondle took over in the seventh and did not allow a run and struck out two en route to his seventh save of the year.
The victory gives Luther an A-R-C record of 15-9, 26-14 overall. Coe fell to 17-6 in league play, 25-14 overall.
Luther will be the No. 3 seed for the A-R-C Tournament that will take place May 10-12. The majority of the tournament will take place at Rise 2 Greatness Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. However, Games 1 and 5 will take place at Mount Mercy University. Luther's first game will be at Mount Mercy University against the No. 6 Seed (to be determined) on Thursday the 10th at 11 a.m.
