PELLA, Iowa - The No. 6 seed Luther softball team knocked off the No. 3 seed Wartburg 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2024 American Rivers Conference Tournament. The Knights held a 1-0 advantage through three complete but the Norse rallied in the top of the fifth scoring four runs on two hits. Luther advances to the semifinal where they will take on Coe.

Down by one, Luther surged in the top of the fifth. The bases were loaded for Abby Spore who hit a bases clearing double to overtake the lead for the first time in the ball game. Riley Sauser followed with and RBI single into right field which put the score at 4-1 in favor of Luther. Wartburg threatened in the bottom half of the inning, with the bases loaded and two outs but the Norse defense ended the threat. 

Olivia Engler pitched her 18th complete game and is now 20-7 on the season. She allowed two hits, one run, two walks and struck out three. Engler also ranks fourth in the nation in appearances this season with 33. 

Luther improves to 28-13 overall.
