STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Luther softball team swept Buena Vista 10-5 and 11-0 in five innings on Saturday.
Abby Spore was 5-8 with three runs and five RBI along with three doubles. The Norse are now 22-8 overall and 6-2 in the American Rivers Conference.
Game 1: Luther 10, Buena Vista 5
A double from Spore scored the game's first run for the Norse but Buena Vista tied it in the bottom half of the inning. Later in the third Luther scored five runs on two hits as
Raven Allen,
Chloe Wagner and
Jaydan Clayton were credited with RBI. The Norse also added a run in the fourth as Allen drove in her second run of the day for a 7-1 lead.
In the sixth Buena Vista scored four runs pulling within two. Luther responded with a three inning as
Teagan Hansen and
Anna Forari knocked in RBI singles for a 10-5 victory.
Olivia Engler pitched six innings earning another victory in the circle. She allowed seven hits, five runs, three walks and struck out nine. Enlger is 14-4 overall this season.
Cyrah Rasmussen came on in the seventh facing just three batters.
Game 2: Luther 11, Buena Vista 0 (5 innings)
Luther shutout Buena Vista in the second game of the day holding the Beavers to just three hits. The Norse had a big first inning scoring five runs on five hits and another six run inning in the third. Spore went 3-4 with two runs, three RBI and two doubles.
Ken Vavrichek also batted well going 2-4 with two runs, two RBI and one double.
Rasmussen picked up her seventh win this season on the mound improving her record to 7-2. She pitched four innings allowing three hits, three walks and she struck down two.
Izzy Staton came on in the fifth giving up one walk on four batters faced.
