Luther Drops Series With Nebraska Wesleyan

DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther softball team fell to Nebraska Wesleyan by scores of 8-2 and 11-3 (6 inn.) on Saturday. With the loss the Norse fall to 19-7 overall and 4-2 in the American Rivers Conference. 

Game 1: Luther 2, Nebraska Wesleyan 8
Luther scored the first run of the game in the first after an RBI single from Riley Sauser for an early 1-0 lead. 

That lead wouldn't last long as the Prairie Wolves added two runs in the second and one in the third for a 3-1 advantage. 

Luther gained one back in the fourth as Teagan Hansen hit an RBI single into right field on two outs. 

Nebraska Wesleyan answered scoring three runs in the fifth and another two in the seventh taking game one 8-2. 

Sauser was 2-3 at the plate with one RBI. 

Game 2: Luther 3, Nebraska Wesleyan 11
Once again Luther was the first to score. In the second two back-to-back singles from Chloe Wagner and Raven Allen gave the Norse two base runners. Jaydan Clayton advanced them into scoring position with a sac bunt. Madi Urfer hit a sac fly that drove in one run and Hansen singled to score Allen. Luther found themselves ahead by 2-0. 

Nebraksa Wesleyan responded with three runs in the third taking over the lead in the third. Sauser hit her second double of the game and Allison Beatty came in to pinch run. Abby Spore hit the RBI single that tied the game at three as Beatty came home. 

The Prairie Wolves recorded four runs in the fifth and sixth defeating the Norse 11-3 in six innings. 

Sauser hit two doubles going 2-4. Ken Vavrichek also went 2-4 with one double.
