Norse Compete Spring Break Trip With Two More Wins

Luther goes 10-2 at THE Spring Games

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Luther softball capped off their spring break trip with a 2-1 win over Lawrence University and a 3-0 victory over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The Norse are 11-5 overall and finished THE Spring Games with a 10-2 record. 

Game 1: Luther 2, Lawrence 1
Both teams were held scoreless through four innings. In the top of the fifth the Vikings cracked the game open scoring the first run. Then in the bottom of the sixth Abby Spore led off with a double. Riley Sauser followed with a RBI double tying the game at one. 

In the seventh Luther knocked down Lawrence in order for an opportunity to pick up a walk-off win. Madi Urfer got the offense going with a double. Alison Martinez hit a single allowing Urfer to advance to third. Then Anna Forari hit an RBI double for the walk-off 2-1 win. 

Cyrah Rasmussen pitched a complete game. She allowed four hits, one run with one earned, and three strikeouts in 26 batters faced. Spore was 2-3 with two doubles and one run. 

Game 2: Luther 3, UWRF 0 
The Norse closed their week in Florida on a high note. After another four scoreless innings the Norse would knock in two runs on three hits in the top of the fifth. Ken Vavrichek hit the RBI double driving in the first run of the game. Later in the inning Sauser hit a sac fly for an RBI for a 2-0 Norse lead. 

Then in the final inning, with a runner on second and one out Spore singled into right center for the RBI adding an insurance run. Olivia Engler plowed down the final three batters for the Falcons with two ground outs and a strikeout. 

Engler went the distance allowing just four hits. She struck down five batters on strikeouts in 26 batters faced.

Luther will travel to Illinois for a doubleheader with Monmouth College on Friday, March 29. First pitch will be a 2 p.m. in Monmouth, Illi.
