Luther and St. Catherine University squared off for the second and final game of the opening weekend at the Minnesota State University Dome. The Norse battled from behind the entire game as the Wildcats jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Wildcats scored what proved to be the game winner posting two runs in the fourth. Luther scored twice in both the third and fourth frames and once in the sixth.
In the sixth, the Norse had the basses loaded with one out.
Riley Sauser drove in
Olivia Engler with a sacrifice fly to right field.
Raven Allen, who had reached first with a single, advanced to second on the throw to home plate. The Wildcats catcher attempted to throw Allen out at second, and while all this was happening,
Anna Forari who was on third, headed towards the plate. The Wildcats second baseman threw a bullet to the catcher who tagged Forari out which secured the victory.
Forari had the lone multiple hit game for the Norse from the lead-off slot. She was 2-for-2 with an rbi and run scored.
Riley Sauser, who was 1-for-3 drove in three runs, and
Abby Spore who was 1-for-3 was also credited with an rbi.

The Norse (0-2) will return to action on Saturday, March 2. The Norse will host Grinnell College at 2 p.m. and Macalester College at 5 p.m. at the Rochester Regional Stadium and Bubble, located on the campus of Rochester Community and Technical College, Rochester, Minn.
