DECORAH, Iowa - In the final home game of the regular season the Luther women's basketball team was defeated by Loras 71-50 on Wednesday.
Kailey Jones posted a double-double with 13 rebounds and 10 points. Luther is now 10-14 overall and 5-10 in the American Rivers Conference.
The Duhawks controlled the game from start to finish. After Loras got on the board with a 3-0 start,
Chelin Isaacson knocked a jumper in for the Norse with 7:53 remaining in the first. However, from that point on it was all Duhawks. With one quarter down Loras held a 22-9 lead.
In the second, Luther continued to struggle offensively. The Duhawks held the Norse to another nine point quarter for a 37-18 lead at halftime. Loras shot 41.7 percent from the floor.
Midway through the third, the Norse were down by 22 but they would string together an 8-0 run started by a layup from Jones. The Duhawks remained in the driver's seat with a 46-30 advantage.
With 6:15 left to play,
Haylie Strum drove inside the paint guiding the Norse to 7-0 run but they were still down 58-45. Loras didn't let Luther get any closer than that.
Loras is now 21-3 overall and 13-2 in the A-R-C.
Luther had more rebounds that Loras at 43-35.
