Norse Complete Season at Simpson College - Liljedahl Has Career Afternoon

Luther wrapped up its 2024 campaign at Simpson College and Buxton Stadium this afternoon in Indianola, Iowa. With the score tied 7-7 at halftime, Simpson ate up nearly 17 minutes of play in the final two quarters, putting together drives of 12 plays for 82 yards (5:49), 10 plays for 85 yards (4:46) and 10 plays for 79 yards (6:23), en route to the 29-15 victory.

Luther posted points on the score board first, taking its opening drive 70 yards on 13 plays for a touchdown. Brett Liljedahl, who had a career afternoon, found Liam Henry on a three-yard pass for the touchdown with 4:36 remaining in the first quarter.

Following a 30-yard punt by the Norse deep in their own half of the field, the Storm tied the game on their very first snap. J Jensen III connected with Noah Craft on a 44-yard touchdown pass with 2:50 left in the first half. These two would connect twice more in the second half. Craft finished the afternoon with 12 catches for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Jensen was 25-of-32 for 277 yards.

Luther cut the score to six (21-15) early in the fourth frame. Liljedahl found Raul Medrano III on a 10-yard strike that capped off a 10 play, 65-yard drive with 10:17 remaining in the game. Sean Medcalfe ran the ball in for the two-point conversion.

Liljedahl's arm was called upon the entire afternoon. Struggling to run the football, Liljedahl was 34-of-59 for 252 yards, all single game career highs. He found nine different receivers led by Aiden Damiani who caught 10 passes for 90 yards. Grayson Ward was next with seven receptions and Payten Sneddon had six.

Defensively, Bronson Knutson led all tacklers with 10. Xavier Capton was next with nine, while Geremiah Brown, Tyler Ragan and William Whalen were all credited with eight.
