Garcia-Prats Selected For Division III Inclusive Leaders Facilitator Program

DECORAH, Iowa - Assistant Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Men's Soccer Coach Chris Garcia-Prats was selected to the inaugural Division III Inclusive Leaders Facilitators Program. He will receive training at the 2024 NCAA Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, Jan. 9-10.

Garcia-Prats is one of thirty selected for the inaugural program.

"Over the last few years, I have continued to learn and grow through a number of different educational opportunities provided by Luther College Athletics and our larger campus. This program can provide me with the much needed skill set to take a larger role in our athletic department for our staff and student-athletes," Garcia-Prats said. "It is an honor to be selected to join this program and I want to thank our Director of Athletics, our Faculty Athletic Representative, and our administration for their continued support."

Selected participants will participate in a workshop that aims to develop presentation and facilitation skills, enhance cultural fluency, identify strategies for best practices in recruitment and retention of students of color, recognizing the importance of DEI to college athletics, and understand the involvement of the NCAA, in particular Division III members, in advancing DEI initiatives.

"Chris has done a fantastic job leading our staff in diversity, equity and inclusion discussions and programs. For him to be selected as one of thirty he will represent Luther College and come back with tools to enhance our athletic department further." Athletic Director Renae Hartl said.
