Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Norse Defeated By Coe 81-60

DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther men's basketball team dropped their first game of 2024 with a 81-60 loss to Coe College on Wednesday. Ben Gill lead the team with 14 points. With the loss Luther is now 5-9 overall and 0-5 in the American Rivers Conference.

Gill scored the game's first points with a layup inside the paint at 18:13 in the first half. The Kohawks would use a 9-6 run to takeover the lead for the rest of the game at 15:31. Then midway through the half with Coe up 22-12, Luther went on a 7-0 run thanks to Aidan Bailey and Randall Days cutting the lead to three. The Kohawks drove the lead to 40-24 with 1:34 left on the clock before halftime. The final points for the Norse came with 59 seconds to go with Daniel Webster dishing it to Will Bockenstedt for the layup. Coe had the lead heading into the locker room at 40-26.

Out of the break the two teams traded points as Luther slowly began to cut into the Coe lead. A jump shot from Jake Collis cut the lead to nine points at 41-50 with 15:07 left in the contest. Once again the Kohawks drove their lead back up to double-digits on the next possession and stayed in control the rest of the way. Although Luther would shoot 60% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc it wouldn't be enough to catch Coe. The Kohawks won the game 81-60 to stay perfect in conference play.

Luther scored 34 points in the paint.
