DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Luther men's basketball team was defeated by Loras 86-59 on Wednesday. The Norse were led by
Mikkel Schutte who recorded 11 points and five rebounds. Luther is now 5-11 overall and 0-7 in the American Rivers Conference.
The Duhawks scored on their opening possession but the Norse would rally right back with a 7-2 run started by
Aidan Bailey. Then buckets on back-to-back possessions from
Jake Collis and
Eros Carpio had the Norse up by six at 14:04 in the half. Loras quickly erased the lead going on a 8-0 run. But a three-pointer from
Tim Mewborn tipped the scales once again up 15-14.
Later the Duhawks extended their advantage to 12 with 7:03 left in the half. Then the Norse pulled within four with points from
Daniel Webster,
Jeremy Andera and Collis. Loras continued drove up the lead once again this time to 16 with 2:12 left before halftime. Luther closed the half on a 6-1 run but Loras had a 45-34 lead at the break.
In the second half Loras didn't let the Norse have any chance of a comeback winning the game 86-59. The Duhawks shot 45 percent from the field, 25 from the arc and 90 at the line. Loras improves their record to 14-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
