MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Luther women's basketball team tipped of the season at the Cornell Classic on Saturday. The Norse fell to Carroll 50-79.
Chelin Isaacson led the team with 13 points.
Lizze Kauls scored the first points with a drive into the paint capitalizing on the turnover by the Pioneers. However, the lead would be short lived. At 8:01 left to play in the first quarter, Carroll took over and never looked back. The Pioneers out-rebounded the Norse 44-31 and scored 32 points off turnovers.
Three of Carroll's players were in double-digits including a 27 point performance from Olivia Rangel.
The Luther bench nearly half of the points with 21.
