INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Luther women's soccer team fell to Simpson 2-0 in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament Semifinal on Wednesday. The Storm scored both goals in the half to defeat the Norse. Luther finishes the regular season with a 8-7-4 overall record and 4-3-1 in the A-R-C.
Luther put the pressure on early firing with
Makayla Haddorff taking the first shot of the game in the 3rd minute. However, the Storm goalie made the stop. Simpson would add two goals in the half with one in the 5th minute and one in the 15th minute. The Norse played stronger in the first forty-five minutes with 11 shots compared to 7 from the Storm. But it was the host with a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Storm held on through solid goalkeeper which didn't allow any Norse shot to find the back of the net in the second half. Luther fought hard during the entirety of the game but they finish the regular season with a 8-7-4 overall record.
Maggie Haller led the team with seven total shots and two on goal. While Gabby Caballero had five shots with two on frame.
Ken Vavrichek made seven saves in the contest.
