DUBUQUE, IOWA – The Luther women's soccer team concluded the regular season with a thrilling 3-2 win over the University of Dubuque Spartans.
Makayla Haddorff scored the game winning goal in the 86th minute for her first of the season. With the win the Norse earn the No.3 seed for the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament. Overall, Luther improved to 7-6-4 and finish the regular season 4-3-1 in the A-R-C.
The action started early with
Ava Stemler passing it through the midfield to
Riley Anderson who was wide open. Anderson took a few touches before taking a shot, putting just enough on it to get past the hands of the goalie. The Norse had a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute. However, a few minutes later the Luther lead didn't last long as a mistake led to a goal forr Dubuque in the 16th minute.
Then in the 27th minute the Norse were on the move with
Maggie Haller passing it ahead to
Kenna McGee. Her shot as on target to reclaim the lead. The 2-1 scoreline would hold until the halftime whistle.
In the second half the Spartans tied the game with a goal in the 79th minute. Luther kept driving forward toward the Dubuque goal knowing the clock was ticking away. McGee passed it to
Makayla Haddorff who slotted it to the far post for the game winning goal in the 86th minute. The Norse win in thrilling fashion 3-2 to close the regular season.

The Norse earned the No.3 seed for the A-R-C tournament. They will host No.6 Wartburg for the first round on Saturday, October 28. A kickoff time is to be determined.
