NEW ORLEANS, LA. – Luther men's cross country landed four individuals on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic athlete honors announced on Thursday, Jan. 26.
Tom Altier (Granger, Iowa / Johnston),
Alex Heidorn (Rogers, Minn. / Rogers Senior),
Ian Kelly (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage) and
Adam Koller (Worthington, Minn. / Worthington) earned honors for their efforts during the 2022 fall cross country season. The men's and women's cross country programs also recieved All-Academic Team honors.
Overall, there were 320 men from 119 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes. In order to receive the honors, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
The men's and women's programs earned All-Academic Team honors. Overall, there were 189 programs that were named to the list. In order for a team to qualify for the distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 grading scale including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers. The men's team had a GPA of 3.47 while the women's team had a 3.67 GPA.
