NORTHFIELD, MINN. – The Luther track and field team kicked off their 2023 indoor season yesterday.
Brandon Deas won the 60-meter dash and the 200. The women's 4x200 relay team took the top spot and
Margaret Stucker was fifth in the shot-put.

The Norse have been training since November waiting to get back on the track for the first time in the new year. For the men's team
Brandon Deas (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Thomas B. Doherty) not only won the prelim in the 60-meter dash but also the finals with a time of 7.09 seconds. He was followed by teammate
Tinashe Chisora (Harere, Zimbabwe / UWC-Waterford Kamhlaba) in the 60 with a time of 7.27. Deas also won the 200-meter dash with at time of 23.53 and Chisora was third in the even at 24.10.
Joey Mehlhorn (Farmington, Minn. / Farmington) also performed well in his collegiate debut, finising eighth in shot put with a throw of 9.34 meters.
For the women's team
Grace Davidson (Birmingham, Iowa / Van Buren County) made the finals in the 60-meter dash. She also helped the 4x200 relay team win with
Amara Marks (Urbandale, Iowa / Urbandale),
Annika Elco (Horizon) and
Rose Sieve (Apple Valley, Minn. / Rosemount) with a time of 1:55.20.
Annika Elco had a great first meet competing in the high jump setting a mark of 1.37 meters and was third in the 60-meter hurdles.
Margaret Stucker (Roseville, Minn. / Roseville Area) was fifth in the shot-put positing a mark of 10.39 meters.

UP NEXT
The Norse host the Luther Invitational on Saturday, February 4
th in the Robert and Ann Naslund Sports and Recreation Center in Decorah. Field events will begin at 11:00 a.m. CT and the running events begin at 12:30 p.m. CT.
