DECORAH, IOWA – The women's soccer team extends their winning streak to two games after defeating the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Pointers 2 to 1.
Emma Lin's game winner in the second half sealed the victory for the Norse.
THE RAIN NEVER BOTHERED US ANYWAYS
After rain pelted the field during hours before the game it seemed like the rain wouldn't stop before kickoff. Luckily it did and the Norse were going to defend home turf either way. In the early opening minutes it seemed like the teams were testing the field conditions. But Luther would find a chance to flick the ball ahead to the feet of
Rose Sieve who speeded past the Pointer defenders. Her shot was dead on target as it went into the lower right corner. However, the Pointers weren't going down easy. With just 6 minutes to go in the first half Stevens Point would find the back of the net with a long-distance goal from Shea-Lynn Gerred. All-tied up at the end of the first half.
In the second half both teams moved the ball up and down the field but neither team had yet to break the deadlock. Luther would have its chance on a free kick just outside the 18-yard box.
Emma Lin (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) couldn't have placed it any better. The ball looped high above the reach of the Stevens Point keeper to give the Norse the game winner in the 78
th minute. This is only the third time in program history that Luther has defeated the Pointers with wins coming in their last three meetings in fourteen all time.
TOP NORSE
- Junior Emma Lin (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) scores her first goal of the season which was the game winning goal.

- Senior Irelyn Baumberger (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) had three saves in the game all of which came in the second half.
