Norse Score Two in Second Half to Defeat Dutch

PELLA, IOWA – Luther broke open the 1-1 draw in the second half with two goals to take care of the Dutch 3-1. Two goals came from Marcos Vila (Madrid, Spain/I.E.S San Fernando) and one from Luis Figueroa (San Juan, Puerto Rico/High Mowing School). The Norse improve to 9-3-5 overall and 3-0-4 in A-R-C Conference play.

JUMP IN CONFERENCE STANDINGS
The Norse all season have liked to jump out in front of their opponents. In the 6th minute Will Overberg (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny Centennial) charged through the Central defense and fired a shot towards goal. It was initially stopped by the Dutch goalkeeper but he couldn't hold onto it as Marcos Vila (Madrid, Spain/I.E.S San Fernando) was there to put it away. Then 27 minutes later Central leveled the game at 1 with a goal from Coleman Manuel. The game was all tied up 1-1 at the half.

Luther wasn't going to let this game end in a draw. As just 42 seconds into the half Marcos Vila (Madrid, Spain/I.E.S San Fernando) found the back of the net for the second time. He used his foot skills to fake out two defenders sending it low to the opposite corner giving the Norse back the lead. But that wouldn't be the only goal of the half for Luther. In the 48th minute Javier Pastor Valls (Mutxamel, Spain/The Kiski School (PA) kept the ball in play feeding it to Luis Figueroa (San Juan, Puerto Rico/High Mowing School) who put it low and away from the Central goalkeeper. The Norse defeat the Dutch 3-1.
