DECORAH, IOWA – The #8 nationally ranked UW-La Crosse won the 5k race dual against the Norse in the 13th all-time meeting as a dual.
13TH ALL TIME MEETING IN DUAL
What a day for a race with beautiful weather and comfortable temperatures for this time of the year. The women's cross country team raced against the #8 Eagles. It may not have as much history as the men's dual but the first one between the two teams was in 1985. Luther won the dual in 2021 but this time around it was the Eagles taking the crown. UW-La Crosse took the top 9 spots before junior
Ana Goellner (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) came around through the home stretch for the Norse with a time of 20:41.1 for 10
th place. She was followed by
Sarah Grams (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) in 13
th,
Sarah Schmidt (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) in 15
th,
Morgan Hansen (Hudson, Iowa/Hudson) in 18
th and
Hannah Brown (Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) rounding out the scoring runners in 20
th.
TOP NORSE
- Junior Ana Goellner (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) finished first for the Norse. It wasn't the first time either as in several races this year she has led Luther. This is the fourth time she has finished across the finish line first leading the team.
