The University of Dubuque and Loras College traveled to Luther this afternoon for the first conference matches of the season for all three teams. Luther split its team and played the Spartans and Duhawks simultaneously.
Luther posted its first conference victory, a 9-0 decision over Dubuque first. The Spartans had just four players due to health reasons. This year the American Rivers Conference has decided that there will not be any make-up dates for health reasons, only weather conditions.
The two matches played in doubles were both won (8-1).
Bruna Costa and
Kiley Nolan defeated Lauren Colon and Jordyn Cory at No. 1.
Jalen DenHartog and
Megan Grimm defeated Reese Gottman and Regina Kadima at No. 2.
Kylie Dunning and
Riley O'Donnell picked up the forfeit win at No. 3.
In singles, the Norse lost just two games in four matches. Costa won at No. 1 (6-0, 6-2); Dunning won at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0); O'Donnell won at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0); and Luna van Tol won at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0). Grimm at No. 5 and DenHartog at No. 6 recorded wins by forfeit.
