Norse Place Four in Gold Division of Auggie Invite - Six Place in Freshmen Division

Luther traveled to Augsburg College (MN) for the Auggie Invite today. Three Norse placed in the Gold Division and five placed in the Freshmen Division.

Donovan Corn (197) headlined the Gold Division for the Norse placing second. Corn posted two wins en route to the championship match, winning by fall (2:58) over Dillon McEachran of Southwest Minnesota State and posting a (5-1) decision over Tyler Hannah of UW-Platteville. In the championship match he lost by fall (5:28) to Isaac Lahr of UW-La Crosse.

Christian Chavez (125) posted a record of 3-1 and placed third. In the third place match he defeated Brandon Murphy of UW-La Crosse (9-8). He lost his opening match to Murphy (8-3).

Logan Kennedy (285) was 4-1 today that included two falls en route to a fifth place finish. In the fifth place match he defeated teammate Cullen Quick by fall (4:49).

Quick's route to his sixth place finish startetd with a 13-1 major decision over Austin Ratiff of Concordia-Moorhead. He was eliminated from the championship bracket 3-2 by Ben Kawcyznski of UW-La Crosse who went on to capture the title. He won two more matches in the consolation bracket before facing Kennedy in the fifth place match.

In the Freshmen Division, Braeden Hendel (157) was crowned the champion. Hendel was 4-0 and defeated Blake Jagodzinske of Augsburg (6-4) in the championship match. He advanced in his first match by injury default; won by fall (2:334) over Tate Karver of RCTC; defeated Jackson Rolfs of Upper Iowa (6-1) in the semifinals.

Ryan Cripe (141) was 4-1 that included three falls in his first three matches. He was eliminated from the championship bracket in the semifinals by fall (4:39) to Ethan Doty of Upper Iowa University who went on to claim the title. Prior to the loss, he pinned Cade Stearns of Central (5:17); Nate Boulton of UW-Platteville (1:44); and Brooks Meyer of Wartburg (1:09). In the third place match he defeated DJ Saunders of Rochester Community and Tech College (11-5).

Aidan Winter (197) was 1-2 for the day and placed fourth. After receiving a first round bye, he defeated Seth Butler of Wartburg (8-5). The lost by fall (0:14) to Parker Venz of Augsburg in the semifinals and (14-8) to Logan Stafford of UW-La Crosse in the third place match.

Caden Scrage (141) placed fifth after posting a record of 5-1 that included three major decisions. One of those was in the fifth place match over Christian Kaller of Nebraska Wesleyan University (13-3).

Jacob Steenhoek (197) was 3-1 for the day and placed fifth. In the fifth place match he won by fall (2:57) over Seth Butler of Wartburg College.

Alex Randall (133) was 3-2 today with one fall and placed sixth. He was defeated by Daniel Monatukwa of Concordia-Moorhead (8-4) in the fifth place match.

Luther's next action will be the American Rivers Conference opener at No. 1 Wartburg College on Friday, Dec. 3. Start time in Waverly, Iowa is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
