Luther traveled to Ripon College this evening for its second non-conference game in five days, and was defeated by a final of 70-51. A 26-6 run by the Redhawks that started midway through the first half led to a 43-21 halftime lead. The Norse played much better in the second frame outscoring the Redhawks 30-27. Ripon won the battle of the boards 41-26 that led to 16 second chance points.
Ten different players scored for the Norse led by
Ben Gill with nine. Gill was 4-of-8 from the field and made one of his two free throw attempts.
Daniel Webster was next with eight, Matt Rohden had seven points and
Matthew Franzen had six.
The Redhawks were led by the duo of Ryan Steffes and Drew Jorgensen who scored 11 and 10 points respectively.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 0-2. This was the season opener for Ripon.
Luther will begin its home schedule this Saturday, Nov. 13 when it will host Hamline University (MN) at 7:00 p.m.
