Beginning in August of 2025, Hartl will serve as the associate athletic director for facility renovation and Senior Woman Administrator and Title IX administrator for the athletics department. The Gerdin Fieldhouse renovation will be her focus for the next school year. She is also the head softball coach at Luther, a position she has had since 2001.

For ten years, 2015-2025, she served Luther as athletics director alongside coaching her softball program. She obtained the athletic department’s first apparel and brand contract, one that still maintains today with Nike being the official gear and game day uniform and shoe of the Norse. One of her more challenging accomplishments was working to get Boise State to allow Luther to do blue turf for the football stadium. Luther remains one of very few blue football fields across the country in all divisions. When the pandemic hit our nation in the spring of 2020, she served the college on the Covid Response Team and led the campus-wide testing efforts and protocols put in place by the NCAA specifically for the student-athletes, coaches, and athletics support staff. She originated the One Team Day and worked with partners in advancement to bring in over $1.7 million for Luther Athletics in the five years of existence.

From 2011-2015, Hartl served the college as the department’s compliance director and SAAC advisor. She began the annual Norse Awards in 2013.

Hartl is a 1999 graduate of Wartburg College and earned an M.S in Sports Psychology from Minnesota State University in 2001.
