2023-24: O'Brien competed in three events during the fall season, posting a scoring average of 78.3 through eight rounds of competition. His best round of the fall came at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational, where he posted a 2nd round score of 74 (+2). 

2022-23: O'Brien competed in four events during the fall, posting a scoring average of 81.2. O'Brien shot his low round of the fall of 77 (+5) twice, once during the WLC Fall Invitational and the Twin Cities Classic. During the spring season, O'Brien competed in the Luther Spring Classic, where he finished second as an individual with a two-round score of 152.

2021-22: O'Brien played in seven events as a sophomore, posting a scoring average of 78.9. His low round of the year came at the Wartburg Spring Invitational, where he posted a 73 (+2).

2020-21: As a freshman, O'Brien played in nine events with a scoring average of 83.6. His low round of the year came at the Wartburg Spring Invitational, where he posted a 78 (+7). He finished 38th at the A-R-C Championships.

High School: While at Eagan High School, he lettered four times and helped lead the team to a 2017 sectional runner-up finish. He was a 1x South Suburban All-Conference honoree.
