The softball team dropped a twin-bill to the University of Dubuque this afternoon in Dubuque. The Spartans won game one 15-7 in 5 innings and game two by a final of 2-1.
In game one, the Spartans had 13 hits and scored in every inning. The Norse scored two in the first and five in the fifth.
Emily Versnik was 3-for-3 that included her first career grand slam homerun over the left-center field fence in the fifth.
Kyal Heydt was 2-for-3 with two rbi, both coming in the first frame following a double to right-center.
Belle Berg was also credited with an rbi in the fifth.
In the nightcap, Luther's lone run came in the sixth thanks to a solo home run by
Abby Spore to left.
Sydney Schultz was 2-4 in the lead-off slot, while
Emily Fell was 3-for-3 batting second.
The two losses dropped the Norse into a two-way tie for seventh place in the league standings with a record of 4-6, 15-11. Dubuque moved into a two-way tie for second at 7-5 with Wartburg. Coe sits atop the standings with a mark of 7-3.
Luther will host UW-Stout on Thursday, April 21 at 3:00 p.m. This double header was originally scheduled to take place in Menomonie, Wis., but was moved to Decorah due to field conditions following a recent snow storm that took place this past weekend.
On Saturday, Luther is scheduled to host Central College at 1:00 p.m.
