Luther traveled to Storm Lake, Iowa and Buena Vista University for an A-R-C double header this afternoon. The Norse won game one 3-2 and the Beavers won game two 8-3.
In game one,
Kendra Cooper (6-5) allowed two runs on two hits, walked three and struck out seven, to pick up the win in the circle. Both of the Beavers runs were unearned due to a Norse error in the fourth.
Abby Spore hit what proved to be the game winner, a three-run home run to right center in the sixth.
Emily Fell, who reached on a single and
Kyal Heydt who reached on a walk scored.
In the nightcap, Buena Vista scored in every inning except one. The Beavers had 12 hits with five going for extra bases.
Luther's three runs all came in the fifth thanks to a home run by Heydt over the left field fence.
Sydney Schultz, who reached on an error, and Fell who reached on a walk, scored.
Sam Thompson (9-4) was credited with the loss. Thompson pitched the first three frames and allowed five runs on eight hits and walked one.
The split gives Luther an A-R-C record of 4-4, 15-9 overall. Buena Vista is also now 4-4 in league play, 20-10 overall.
Luther travels to the University of Dubuque on Tuesday, April 19. This double header will begin at 2:00 p.m.
