The American Rivers Conference has announced that Luther College soccer players senior Marcos Vila and freshman Raul Ferrández have been named the league's Offensive and Defensive Performers of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021. This is the second time Vila has been so honored and first for Ferrández.
Vila scored scored four goals and had two assists during Luther's two matches this past week. He scored twice during Luther's 3-2 double overtime loss to St. Olaf, and scored twice and had two assists during Luther's 9-0 victory over Buena Vista University.
Vila, who is a two-time All-Conference performer and 2020 (Spring 2021) and has been named the American Rivers Conference Most Valuable Player, increased his season point total to 22 points in 10 matches played.
Ferrández played a kep role for the Norse defensive unit that held this week's opponents to four shots on goal. His goal against Buena Vista University at 46:18 was his first collegiate goal.
Luther finished the week with an overall record of 6-4, 2-0 in the A-R-C
