The American Rivers Conference has announced that Luther College junior Kendra Cooper (Lansing, Iowa/Kee High) has been named the league's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 16, 2021. This is the fourth time this year she has been so honored and the fifth time of her career.
Cooper was credited with all six wins during Luther’s run to the A-R-C Tournament title for a conference record eighth time. She pitched five complete games that included three on day two of Pod 1, throwing shut outs against No. 1 Coe (5-0) and No. 8 Buena Vista (2-0). After pitching 35 innings in two days, she came in for the final three innings in the second and deciding game against Nebraska Wesleyan University and was credited with the win that secured the tournament title.
Over the duration of the tournament, Cooper pitched 38 innings, allowed seven earned runs, and struck out 18 for a weekend ERA of 1.28.
Luther finished the year with an overall record of 31-14. Cooper was 20-5 with an ERA of 1.98.
