The American Rivers Conference has announced that Luther College sophomore Sydney Schultz (Raymond, Iowa/Waterloo Columbus) has been named the league's Position Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 16, 2021. This is the first time she has been so honored.
Schultz helped lead Luther to the A-R-C Tournament championship. The Norse went 6-1 in the tournament, winning the tournament title for a conference best eighth time, and finished the year with an overall record of 31-14.
Schultz batted batting .434 that included two home runs and two doubles and driving in six runs. Her final double of the tournament and season set a new Luther single season record of 20 doubles, breaking the old record of 19 set by Lisa Huinker in 2007.
